Cynthia Gutierrez

Cynthia Gutierrez grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco. At an early age she was exposed to violence, addiction, and trauma. This adversity inspired her to be a social advocate for her community. She has been a community organizer in different capacities for most of her life. A first generation Nicaraguan Salvadorian transnational feminist that is actively engaging in her own ancestral healing while finding ways to help communities heal.

Her community organizing is rooted in her passion for being of service to the most marginalized people. Her deep interest in reproductive justice and working with the recovery community have brought her to birth work.

Cynthia was drawn to Kingian Nonviolence because as a youth she was exposed to and educated about the civil rights movement. She was able to transform her anger and pain into mobilizing for social justice causes that were close to her heart. She is proud to be a part of the Kingian Nonviolence facilitators family. They are the beloved community that she has been looking for her entire life.
