Julia is a transplant from Southern California. She moved to the Bay Area to attend the Master of Social Welfare program at UC Berkeley. She has focused her career on working with intensely challenged youth. Currently, she is the Director of Social Services at an acute psychiatric hospital for adolescents. Prior to that, she spent about 14 years as a psychiatric social worker in a local school district. Additionally, for over ten years, she has worked with families adopting children through the foster care system.
She has received additional training in Nonviolent Communication, Crisis Resolution, and Mindfulness & Trauma. She has had the pleasure of being a trainer of families on the topics of Trauma & Attachment and working with homeless youth. In every role she has filled, she believes nonviolence is the foundation of healing and wholeness individually, in the community, and globally.
